Data Protection

By order of the chancellor, Internal Auditing and Organizational Development (IROE) at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) is responsible for matters of data protection at JGU.

JGU’s data protection officer belongs to IROE and, in close cooperation with JGU’s IT security officer, advises in all data protection matters. Some examples include creating and maintaining the processing register, processing data protection violations, advising on scientific and non-scientific projects, and implementing and ensuring compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), in force since 2018.
JGU’s online training course (in German), Project Data Con, offers an initial overview of data protection.
In the download area, you can find a variety of templates for use in your field, a catalog of questions and answers concerning data protection and IT security for software purchases, an overview of the technical and organizational measures in place, and the data protection paper by chair Prof. Dr. Matthias Bäcker.
